It's an unrobbery!
Melissa McCarthy just can’t stay out of trouble with the law. She managed to win over audiences as a sloppy criminal in Identity Thief and her latest comedy, Tammy, finds her turning to robbery because of more desperate circumstances. The new trailer for the film is online.
Initially focusing on the fast food restaurant robbery we saw her character carrying out in the teaser, this new promo then expands out to encompass some of the other people we’re going to meet along the way. Prime among them is her grandmother, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), a hard-drinking, tough-living senior who thinks nothing of flashing her breasts when the moment calls for it. There’s also Kathy Bates as Leanor, the woman who calls Pearl mother and Tammy daughter.
Tammy’s day goes from bad to worse when she’s fired (by fast food boss Kevin, played by McCarthy’s real-life husband Ben Falcone, who co-wrote the movie with her and directs) and discovers that her husband has been cheating on her. So she decides to leave town for a while, taking Pearl on a road trip that will lead to all sorts of misadventures, including run-ins with police officers and the decision to “unrob” the restaurant she originally held up. With Dan Aykroyd, Allison Janney, Toni Collette, Sandra Oh, Gary Cole and Nat Faxon in the cast, Tammy is out on July 4.
