Jesse is back in tune
Shooting has just kicked off on the Pitch Perfect sequel with Elizabeth Banks making her directorial debut for more a capella capers. With the majority of the main cast reunited, a few lingering holdouts were left, and confirmation has arrived that Skylar Astin is aboard the film.
Astin, of course, played Jesse, one of the competitive singing team known as the Treble Makers. Despite going up against Anna Kendrick’s Beca and the Barden Bellas, Jesse soon fell for our heroine. The exact plot for the new film is being kept quiet, so we don’t yet know whether Beca and Jesse’s romance has hit a high note or ended up a-kaput. And yes, we apologise for that gag.
Astin joins a cast that already includes returning Pitch fixtures Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Adam DeVine, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee and Kelley Jackie, with new recruits Hailee Steinfeld and Katey Sagal. Banks will once more be a producer and crop up as music judge Gail. The first film’s writer Kay Canon has once again crafted the script and we can expect the movie on May 15 next year.
