Johnny Depp has signed on to play illusionist Harry Houdini in The Secret Life Of Harry Houdini.
Based on the same-named book by William Kalush and Larry Sloman, the film will be helmed by Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot.
The novel is described as a “groundbreaking biography”, with the authors attempting to expose the man behind the myth – and explain just why he became such a daredevil.
Rather than a straight-forward biopic, Lionsgate apparently envisions the film to be an action thriller in the Indiana Jones mould.
With the pairing of Depp and director Parisot, we should probably also expect laughs a-plenty – and we imagine Depp’s picking out the right wig for the role as we speak.
