In the new Clive Barker adaptation
There’s a lot of affection for Lena Headey around Empire Towers. If you want just one reason why, check out this interview we did with her for 300: Rise Of An Empire. On screen, she’s not the sort of person you want to cross, and imagine that attitude plus magical powers in a horror story? Clive Barker can, as he’s cast her in Jacqueline Ess .
This will be a new film based on the story from Barker’s Books Of Blood collection, which follows a woman who is desperate for a change. She gets more than she ever wanted when she’s granted the ability to transform other people’s bodies. Yeah, can’t see that great power being misused at all.
Director Jovanka Vukovic is moving from work on shorts (including The Captured Bird, which boasted Guillermo del Toro as a producer) and an entry in female horror anthology XX to make her feature debut. She co-wrote the script for the new film with Christian Francis.
“Lena Headey is a marvellous performer with an incredible presence,” Barker tells Variety. “As far as I’m concerned, there is no better choice of actress for the role of Jacqueline. Her beauty and authority will carry the day.” And lest you were unaware, Headey is on our TV screens now in Game Of Thrones, and will next be in cinemas for political scandal drama Zipper.
