Godzilla Sequel In Development

Godzilla Sequel In Development

To almost no one's surprise

As you may already have read on this very site, the new take on Godzilla has opened to big success at box offices around the world, and that can mean only two things: lots of Hollywood types back-slapping each other about the bonuses to come and plans being put in place for a sequel.

Given how eager Legendary Pictures has in particular been to develop franchises, it should be a no-brainer for all involved to start working on ideas for another movie. Especially since the company – and Warner Bros. – have been considering the prospect for a while now.

Godzilla is now stomping towards an estimated $196 million worldwide in its first weekend, so we can expect to see more giant monster action in our future. Director Gareth Edwards has hinted in the past that he has ideas for a potential sequel, but has played coy about the idea, preferring to let his work do the talking. Now we’re certain he’ll be besieged with calls about officially working on the new film, though he may still choose to do what he did with Monsters, and let someone else handle any sequels.

Gamera, meanwhile, is already on the phone to his agent about a possible role in the new movie.
