Game Of Thrones Season 5 is set to ring the changes, with two major characters set to sit out the entire series, in the form of Bran Stark and Hodor.
The news was revealed by Isaac Hempstead-Wright, the actor who plays Bran, who said, “we have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books.”
Indeed, Bran’s story last season saw showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss jump dramatically forwards through the source material, drawing on the most recent of the books for this particular strand of the saga.
The duo also recently announced that they plan to wrap up the TV show after seven series, regardless of whether George R.R. Martin has finished the books, meaning that there is major progress to be made across the many other storylines.
As a result, it makes sense that Bran’s story, as the most advanced, be sidelined for the next series, as the other characters are all brought up to speed. Still, we’ll miss the Hodoring, all the same…
Filming is set to begin on the fifth series in the coming months, with the show set to return to our screens come the spring. Hodor!
