New Trailer For Studio Ghibli's Princess Kaguya

New Trailer For Studio Ghibli's Princess Kaguya

And it's quite lovely...

Back in July, the US dubbing voice cast was revealed for Studio Ghibli’s latest work, The Tale Of Princess Kayuga. Now we can see (or rather hear) their efforts in action with the latest American trailer for the film.

Princess Kaguya is based on Japan’s oldest recorded narrative, The Tale Of The Bamboo Cutter. In the yarn, a man finds a tiny girl inside the stalk of a bamboo. Deciding with his wife to raise her as their own, they see her become a beautiful young woman who attracts the interest of lots of suitors. But she hides a secret that might affect her life... The trailer's lovely, putting the film's impressionistic art vibe front and centre.

Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata took on directorial duties for this one, which features the likes of Chloë Grace Moretz, James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, Darren Criss, Lucy Liu, James Marsden, Beau Bridges, Dean Cain and John Cho among the typically eclectic voice talent.

We’re certainly looking forward to this one, though despite boasting a US date of October 14, it doesn’t appear to have a UK distributor yet.
