He might not think he’s famous any more, but infamous paper bag wearer Shia LaBeouf is clearly not ready to give up the acting lark any time soon. He’s just part of the cast for the new thriller Man Down, which stars Gary Oldman and Kate Mara.


Dito Montiel is set to kick off shooting the film next month in New Orleans, using a script by Adam Simon. Man Down is set in a post-apocalyptic US and focuses on a haunted Afghanistan war veteran searching for his family. It doesn’t exactly scream comedy sensation of the year, so we’re going for taught, affecting drama instead.


Oldman, who was last seen battling intelligent simians in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, will next be part of Russia-set thriller Child 44, opposite Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace. LaBeouf was among the sprawling Nymphomaniac cast and is part of Brad Pitt’s tank crew in World War II action thriller Fury, due out on October 24. As for Mara, she cropped in Transcendence and has hostage drama Captive and comic book adaptation The Fantastic Four on the horizon, with the new take on the Marvel characters arriving on June 18 next year.
