Because he can never be shepherding too many projects on to screens as a producer, Ridley Scott has made a deal to help bring a new American Civil War drama to life on PBS.

The series, which doesn’t yet have a name, will be set in Alexandria, Virginia and follows two volunteer nurses on opposite sides of the war. The women work in a family-owned hotel turned hospital, and come from dramatically different backgrounds. One is a staunch New England abolitionist; the other a wilful young Confederate. According to PBS, which unveiled the series at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, it’ll draw from true stories of the time.

ER veteran David Zabel will be writing the series, with Scott and David Zucker as executive producers. There’s no indication yet as to whether Scott will direct any of the six planned episodes from the initial order, which is set to kick off airing in 2016. As for Scott's next film job, he has sci-fi tale The Martian set to arrive on November 27.
