Lucy co-star onboard Gerard Butler thriller
He was last seen as a French cop wondering what the hell he’d gotten himself into during the madness of Lucy, and he’s not exactly putting his feet on the ground for a new assignment. The Egyptian actor has joined the cast of Gerard Butler sci-fi actin thriller Geostorm .
Dean Devlin is making his film-directing debut on the movie, in which Butler plays a charming but stubborn satellite designer called in to help when the orbiting devices that control the Earth’s weather start to go haywire, leading to fears that the worst storm humanity has ever known could soon befall us all.
Jim Sturgess will be Butler’s estranged brother, with whom he’ll have to work if he’s to stop the meteorological apocalypse. But that’s not all: amid the mission to save the world, he also discovers that someone is plotting to assassinate the president. And Waked? According to Variety, he’s set to play tough international space station security expert Ray Dussette, who will likely be an important ally for Butler. Or a thorn in his side, depending on where the screenplay takes him.
Ed Harris, Abbie Cornish, Andy Garcia, Robert Sheehan and Katheryn Winnick are all aboard the film, which is shooting now in New Orleans. The film is set to rain on our cumulative cinematic parade on March 25, 2016.
