Community Returns On March 17

Community Returns On March 17

Online via Yahoo Screen

Community has long been one of the more creative – but also ratings and awareness-challenged – sitcoms to come from the American network system in years. And it’s been even harder to come by in this country, changing networks and sometimes disappearing altogether. It should be a little easier to find, as the sixth season will debut online via Yahoo screen on March 17.

The video above features the main cast, now limited to Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong plus one of this year’s guest stars, Paget Brewster, announcing the new series in typically comic style. The news was also delivered at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, with creator Dan Harmon admitting that he’s happy with the show's new home. "The corset loosens a little bit," he told reporters. "There's a little, tiny bit more Britishness to the comedy. It's a little freer."

Brewster and Keith David are among the new additions this year, subbing in for the likes of Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown, who have left the show. "I wanted to be very careful about bringing these new characters onto the show," Harmon explained. "The tough thing is, you've got 13 episodes and you're very late to the game. How do you make them feel like classic Community characters?"

Yahoo will put two episodes of the new, 13-episode run online for launch day, and then premiere a new instalment every Tuesday after that. Season six is a reality, people. The movie can surely only be around the corner…
