You likely saw him as Jaka in The Raid, or maybe putting the hurt on our heroes as one of Luke Evans’ henchmen in Fast & Furious 6. Now Joe Taslim is headed somewhere very different, joining the cast of Star Trek Beyond.
With pretty much everything about the film – beyond the presence of the Enterprise crew veterans including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin, plus new franchise faces Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella – still being kept behind a protective shield, The Hollywood Reporter offers no real details about what Taslim will be up to in the film. But the trade mag does indicate that he has a key role opposite Elba, who will be the film’s big threat. So we’d expect Kirk and co. to have some trouble with him…
With a script by Pegg and Doug Jung and Fast & Furious old hand Justin Lin calling the shots now in Vancouver, Star Trek Beyond will be in our cinemas on July 8 next year.
