The Infernal Affairs team brings crime to New York
The last time director Andrew Lau and Martin Scorsese were directly associated, it was because Scorsese was remaking Lau’s Infernal Affairs as The Departed. This time around, he’s simply helping out as an executive producer, backing Lau’s new English-language crime thriller Revenge Of The Green Dragons, which has launched a trailer.
Directed by Lau and Andrew Loo from a script by Loo and Michael DiJiacomo, Green Dragons follows immigrant brothers Sonny (Justin Chon) and Steven (Kevin Wu) who live and survive in the impoverished squalor of 1980s New York largely by joining powerful Chinatown gang The Green Dragons.
Rising quickly up the ranks, the brothers are soon drawing the suspicious attention of tough city cops, but it’s love that truly puts them in danger. An ill-fated romance pits Sonny against his own brother, and puts him on a course to seek revenge against the very gang that made him who he is...
With a cast bolstered by Ray Liotta, Harry Shum Jr., Shuya Chang, Geoff Pierson and Billy Magnussen, Revenge Of The Green Dragons will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month before hitting US cinema screens in October. It’ll hopefully make its way over to the UK next year.
