Relativity Studio has it in development
It’s unusual for films outside of big planned franchises and comic book series to announce sequels even before the first has arrived in cinemas. But clearly Relativity Studios has faith in its new Pierce Brosnan action thriller The November Man, with the former 007 hitting The Tonight Show on Tuesday night to announce a sequel, and the production company following up via an official statement, picked up by Latino Review.
The first film finds Brosnan as CIA veteran Peter Devereaux, who trains up a new whippersnapper of an agent (Luke Bracey) in the fine art of killing without being snuffed yourself. But when Devereaux’s family comes under threat and he ends up pitted against his former pupil, the expert agent will have to rely on everything he knows as part of a deadly game that also involves corruption at a high level of the agency and the Russian president-elect.
“The November Man is a gritty series that re-invents the spy genre with its master Pierce Brosnan by combining the best elements of James Bond and Jason Bourne while echoing the cool, sleek action movies of the 70s,” says Relativity’s Robbie Brenner. “We are excited to launch the film later this month and to continue to explore Peter Devereaux's dangerous world with Pierce over the years to come.” They’ve at least got some solid source material to work from, as the film is adapted from Bill Granger’s book series.
Roger Donaldson directed the first film, due out in the US on August 27. Olga Kurylenko, Eliza Taylor, Will Patton and Bill Smitrovich fill out the cast for the thriller, which still has yet to lock in a firm UK release date. You can check out the teaser trailer here.
