Abby Cornish and Ed Harris may also join the Gerard Butler thriller
With Gerard Butler aboard to lead his new sci-fi thriller Geostorm, director Dean Devlin has been busy rounding up the rest of the cast. He now has Jim Sturgess, Abby Cornish, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia making deals to appear.
Butler is playing a charming but stubborn satellite designer called upon to help when the orbiting devices that control the Earth’s weather start to go a little haywire, leading to fears that the worst storm humanity has ever known could soon befall us all.
Sturgess will be Butler’s estranged brother, with whom he’ll have to work if he’s to stop the meteorological apocalypse. But that’s not all – amidst the mission to save the world, he also discovers that someone is plotting to assassinate the president. Never rains but it pours, eh? Probably literally in this case. Cornish will a secret service agent in a relationship with Sturgess, with Harris as the Secretary of State and Garcia sitting behind the big desk in the Oval Office.
Kieran and Michele Mulroney have worked on the script, originally written by the director and Warner Bros. is looking to have shooting kick off this October in New Orleans.
