A new trailer has arrived online for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, in which Thorin Oakenshield’s company of Dwarves makes one final stand against the vengeful dragon, Smaug.
Unfortunately for them, Smaug isn’t the only foe they will have to worry about, with Sauron taking the opportunity to strike at the heart of Middle-earth by sending hordes of his orcs to stack the deck even further.
The new trailer gives us a brief taste of the battle ahead, and mighty spectacular it looks too…

Peter Jackson always did know his way around a mass combat scene, and there are signs here that we could have something to measure alongside Helm’s Deep. It should be quite the tussle…
Directed by Jackson and co-starring Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage and Ian McKellen, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies will open in the UK on 12 December 2014.
