Comic-Con 2014: Kevin Smith unleashes creepy Tusk trailer

Kevin Smith returned to his now traditional Comic-Con slot to host another evening of profanity, insight and movie chat.

The loquacious Clerks director regaled the crowds with tales from the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, describing how he was moved to tears by standing inside J.J. Abrams’ recreation of the Millennium Falcon.

He also reiterated that his Cop Out star Bruce Willis is the most difficult person he’s ever worked with, and he chatted at length about his career, his homelife and his passion for podcasting.

But the reason that a lot of people were there was for a glimpse of his latest film, Tusk, based on the extremely creepy high-concept of an aging seadog (Michael Parks) taking a man (Justin Long) hostage, with the express intention of turning him into a walrus, via some pretty suspect surgical procedures.

Despite the disturbing premise, there are some unsettlingly humorous moments in the trailer, which you can watch below:

Smith promised that the effective editing of the trailer means that what you see above amounts to less than 20 per cent of the finished film.

Tusk opens in the US later this year, with a UK release date to be confirmed.
