Headhunters' Morten Tyldum On For Chain Of Events

Headhunters' Morten Tyldum On For Chain Of Events

'World War Z meets The Da Vinci Code'

Norwegian filmmaker Morten Tyldum is steaming firmly into Hollywood’s good graces. He’s graduated from Headhunters to The Imitation Game and now has Chain Of Events, a global thriller with a ‘70s-era feel to it, to keep him occupied.

It’s based on Frederick T. Olsson’s popular novel, which was picked up by Warner Bros. prior to publication last August. The story is billed as “World War Z meets The Da Vinci Code” – an all-bases-covered notion that unsurprisingly got the studio’s juices flowing – and has a script written by Mark L. Smith. The scribe recently penned Alejandro González Iñárritu’s period revenger The Revenant .

The hero of the piece is a man called William Sandberg, a military code-breaker who, when we meet him, is a broken man mired in depression. Shades of Alan Turing then. Aside from bossing the world’s smallest niche - the troubled code-breaker genre – Tyldum will oversee a thriller that involves Sandberg being charged with solving a potentially catastrophic conspiracy involving DNA, terrorism and the future of humanity. No pressure there then.

His Benedict Cumberbatch-starring wartime drama The Imitation Game, meanwhile, will land with us on November 14. Click here for a good look at the trailer.
