Tom Hiddleston Says I Saw The Light

Tom Hiddleston Says I Saw The Light

He'll play (and sing) as Hank Williams in a new biopic

Tom-Hiddleston-Will-Be-Hank-Williams

He can dance. He can command crowds. He can charm the teeth from a crocodile. Now it appears there is yet another string to Tom Hiddleston’s already well-stocked bow – a guitar string, as he’ll be playing and performing as country star Hank Williams in I Saw The Light .

Marc Abraham will direct the script he wrote, which adapts Colin Escott’s biography of the man who scored hits with songs such as ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart’ (we can sense the Loki mash-ups forming even now), ‘I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry’ and ‘Lovesick Blues’. Williams, who died in 1953, is still considered one of the most significant country music artists and rose quickly, burned brightly and died at the age of 29 from heart failure brought on by pills and alcohol.

His legacy remains, however, and his songs have been covered by a multitude of artists, many of whom cite him as an inspiration. So he’s a perfect subject for a biopic, and Hiddleston will be warming up his vocal chords to start filming in Louisiana this October. Those after their next full dose of Hiddlestonic will have to wait until Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, which doesn’t arrive until 16 October next year. He’s also about to start work on High Rise for Ben Wheatley and will probably crop up in a viral video before too long.
