Fox's Bat-origin story gets a rogue's gallery
Fox’s Gotham promises to delve into the murky underworld of DC’s crime-ridden metropolis. From the promotional materials that have been debuted to date, including the trailer, it’s an origin tale not just for Commissioner Gordon (The O.C.’s Ben McKenzie) but a rogues gallery of future Bat-villains. Here are a few, via Entertainment Weekly, including Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), the future Penguin, and Camren Bicondova’s Selena Kyle. {New Gotham Posters} Still no sign of The Joker, but the strongest hints have him turning up in the club belonging to Jada Pinkett Smith’s crime boss Fish Mooney. Our hero, of course, is James Gordon, an idealist in a city that’s long-since jettisoned its principles for a fast buck. He’s new in town and partnered up with a jaundiced cop who will no doubt try and fail to pass on his “shortcuts” before getting a thorough Serpico’ing from his fire-eyed partner.
Gotham will make its debut on Fox in the autumn. Expect more news on the show from next month’s Comic-Con.
