Melissa McCarthy hits the road
We’re less than a month away from the release of Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy, Tammy, and that must mean it’s time for a new trailer. There are a lot of moments we’ve seen before in this one, so it’s a stretch to call it entirely “new”, but enjoy one or two fresh gags anyway.
Tammy finds McCarthy in typically wacky form, playing the title character as a mixture of types we’ve seen her pull off successfully before. Her day goes from bad to worse when she’s fired (by fast food boss Kevin, played by McCarthy’s real-life husband Ben Falcone, who co-wrote the movie with her and directs) and discovers that her husband has been cheating on her.
She decides to leave town for a while, taking her grandma Pearl (Susan Sarandon) on a road trip that will lead to all sorts of misadventures, including run-ins with police officers and a bad experience on a jet ski.
With Kathy Bates as Tammy’s mother and Dan Aykroyd, Allison Janney, Toni Collette, Mark Duplass, Sandra Oh, Gary Cole and Nat Faxon in the cast, the film is set to arrive in the UK on July 4.
