Benedict Cumberbatch has ruled himself out of a potential role in Star Wars: Episode VII , during an appearance at Australia's Oz Comic-Con.
Having worked alongside J.J. Abrams on Star Trek: Into Darkness , Cumberbatch's name has been continually linked to the new film, but according to the star, it isn't going to happen.
"I would've liked a part in J.J.'s new Star Wars, but it won't happen, sadly," said Cumberbatch, before also ruling himself out of ever appearing on Doctor Who.
No further explanation was given, although given that this is the same man who flat denied playing Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness, we'll still be holding on to a shred of hope until the cast is formally announced…
Directed by Abrams and starring Adam Driver, Star Wars: Episode VII will open in the UK on 18 December 2015.
