Marc Webb has teased a possible appearance by J. Jonah Jameson in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, although he concedes that following J.K. Simmons’ performance will be a tough ask…
Simmons stole the show as the apoplectic editor of The Daily Bugle in Sam Raimi’s Spidey trilogy, but Webb is still keen to work the character into the next film if at all possible.
“I like the idea very much of him coming up in the next film,” says Webb. “It was more easy to accept a new Spider-Man than someone who could outdo J.K. Simmons in that role, he is so iconic.”
“That's something we've really talked about. Obviously I love that character because he poses such an interesting dilemma for Spider-Man. The answer is I don't know, but I think you can expect to see him in the future.”
With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 currently in cinemas, the third film in the series (and the last under Webb’s stewardship) will open in the UK on 27 May 2016.
