First Images From Jurassic World

First Images From Jurassic World

Bryce Dallas Howard is ready for her close-up

The dinosaurs are back, though they’re not quite finished in the make-up trailer to be seen just yet. Still, with filming underway for a couple of weeks now on Jurassic World, the first pictures have begun to emerge from the set via Entertainment Weekly. {Jurassic World images}

Jurassic World, which features Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins dealing with the requisite assortment of angry, hungry terrible lizards, has been rolling its cameras under the direction of Colin Trevorrow, and while EW’s report didn’t specify any plot details, we do know that the new film re-visits Isla Nublar (and heads elsewhere) more than two decades after the events depicted in Steven Spielberg’s first trip there. Trevorrow was a little more forthcoming to us, outlining the broader themes: “It’s about alpha dominance and the fact that humans have been the alpha species for a very long time", he explained, "and so now we’ve brought back another that happened to be the alpha species during its time, and we have to co-exist, so what is that relationship?”

He’s also gone on to talk about potential sequels, so if you’re after the full scoop on the film, you can head here. You’ll also want to look out for the new issue of Empire , which hits all good and evil newsagents today, and features our exclusive chat with Trevorrow alongside a wealth of contributions from a variety of directors. Jurassic World itself hits our cinemas on June 12 next year.
