A couple of days ago, we brought you an exclusive new image from Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth , which boasts Michael Fassbender as the ambitious Scot. They’re ready to work together again, as Kurzel is in talks to direct the adaptation of Ubisoft game Assassin’s Creed .

Fassbender has been attached to the film for a while now, playing the role of an everyman kidnapped by a mysterious, high tech organisation and forced to relive the memories of his assassin ancestors as he locates powerful artefacts.

Ubisoft and New Regency have been busy developing this one, and it looked at one point as if Safe House’s Daniel Espinosa might take the director’s job. He’s no longer involved, but Adam Cooper and Bill Collage were the most recent writers mentioned as contributing a draft or two. It would appear Fassbender, who is also producing Creed, lobbied for Kurzel to be given a shot at handling the film.

20th Century Fox wants the film in cinemas next year, so assuming Kurzel makes a deal, it could at last be a positive step forward for the movie. Now it has to step back, jump up, head right and climb a wall to reach the next level.
