American Sniper was a big hit for the director, so it’s perhaps not surprising that Clint Eastwood is looking for another true-life tale with shades of heroism to make as his next film. He’s flirted with a couple of biopics already, but appears to be targeting Sully.

Warner Bros and the director are developing a film based on the life of pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who was hailed as a hero when he landed a malfunctioning aircraft full of passengers safely on New York’s Hudson River in 2009.

Frank Marshall met the pilot through Harrison Ford (who knows a little something about safe landings in difficult situations) and nabbed Sullenberger’s life rights alongside his memoir Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters in 2010. He’ll be aboard to produce the eventual movie. “I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall. The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team," Sullenberger tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Eastwood had been considering various projects, including Boston marathon bombing tale Patriot’s Day that has Mark Wahlberg attached to star in and produce, and the story of Richard Jewell. But the Sully story is taking precedence over everything else.
