With filming underway in Boston on Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters, the director has taken the opportunity to hit Twitter with a behind-the-scenes look at the uniforms that his cast will be slipping into in the course of their spectre-catching quest. Take a look…
Yes, they very much resemble the jumpsuits once worn by Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, but these will be the standard gear for Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. No re-invention of the wheel here, just a little additional striping.
Feig has so far been keeping many of the details about the new movie close to his chest, but we do know that the basic story, written by the director and The Heat’s Katie Dippold finds Wiig and McCarthy as a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is great, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan.
Chris Hemsworth is on to play the assistant to the spirit-chasing team, which will expand to include McKinnon and Jones. Ghostbusters is set for release on July 22 next year.
