Ariane Labed Is Game For Assassin's Creed

Ariane Labed Is Game For Assassin's Creed

The game adaptation finds a replacement for Alicia Vikander

One out, one in… The endless game of musical casting chairs continues, as mere hours after news arrived that Alicia Vikander had chosen to commit to the new Bourne film instead of Assassin’s CreedAriane Labed has been hired to take her place.

Labed, who has won praise for her work in quirky Cannes-premiered romantic drama The Lobster, is the new third lead alongside Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.

Justin Kurzel is directing the game adaptation, with Fassbender starring the lead role of an everyman kidnapped by a mysterious, high-tech organisation and forced to relive the memories of his assassin ancestors as he locates powerful artefacts. As for how Cotillard and now Labed fit into the plot, that’s anyone’s guess right now, though Adam Cooper and Michael Lesslie are automatically banned from participating because they wrote the movie and could cheat. Kurzel should be rolling the cameras this autumn for a December 30, 2016 release date here.

This is certainly a high profile turn for Labed, who has been winning awards for her work, and might be best known for Before Midnight. She has various films on the way including Seances, Voir du pays and Prejudice. The Lobster will hit UK screen on October 16.
