Despite all his years of dealing with spells, spooks, strange creatures and Snape, Daniel Radcliffe might not be ready for the surreality of his next project. He, alongside Paul Dano and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, are all aboard Swiss Army Man.
So far, so relatively routine, you might think. But then you read the plot of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's (Deadline reports that they simply go by “the Daniels”) film and the strangeness kicks in. The story follows what happens when a hopeless man, struggling through a wilderness meets and befriends a dead body. Together, the pair undertakes a weird journey to get home. Told you it was odd. But then, we suppose Radcliffe actually does have the experience to deal with this one.
Quite how he and the rest of the cast fit into the story has yet to be revealed, but the Daniels developed the film at the Sundance lab, so the team there must’ve seen something in it. There’s no word yet on when it’ll kick off shooting.
Radcliffe pops up for a cameo in Trainwreck, out August 14, and will be seen in Victor Frankenstein, which arrives on November 27 and Now You See Me: The Second Act, due June 10 next year. Dano is playing the young Brian Wilson in biopic Love & Mercy, which hits the UK on July 10. Winstead has The Hollars and Valencia in post-production, neither of which have UK release dates yet.
