Still looking to overcome the usual “the Transformers films have writers? Who write scripts?” jokes, the robo-franchise is bolstering its newly formed writing team tasked with cranking out ideas and screenplays for new movies. The latest additions to the writers' room are Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer.
The writers have been working for a while separately, with Hodson most recently hired by Warner Bros. to write a new version of The Fugitive after selling various spec scripts. Beer has several movies in the works, including adventure story Dig for Disney and comedy How To Nail An Alien. She’s currently working on a re-imagined Wizard Of Oz for Warners. Oh, and as Deadline notes, she’s a Stanford graduate who studied neuroscience, which will no doubt come in handy given how strictly the Transformers films stick to science fact. Moving on…
These two new arrivals join a team overseen by Akiva Goldsman that already includes Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, The Incredible Hulk’s Zak Penn, Lost’s Jeff Pinkner and more recent arrivals, Ant-Man re-writing crew Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. Their job will be to work up ideas and scripts for future full Transformers entries and potential spin-offs around characters such as Bumblebee. (Optimus) Prime among their duties will be preparing the fifth instalment of the franchise.
