Inspired by the Marvel one-shot short film of the same name, the eight-episode Agent Carter TV show aired on American TV screens in January, but British fans of Hayley Atwell's secret agent - as originally seen in both standalone Captain America films, as well as more recently in Avengers: Age Of Ultron - were left in limbo as to when they'd get to see the first series. Now, news arrives that Fox UK has picked it up, and July 1 will be the release date.
For those not aware of how to access the Fox channel in Britain, here's a link with all the details, and for those not aware of the set-up of the eagerly anticipated show, here it is:
Marvel’s Agent Carter tracks secret agent Peggy Carter as she deals with post-war America and a life without Cap in 1946. Peacetime has not been the best time for Carter, marginalised by her colleagues and forced balance administrative work with much more important, stealthy duties at the Strategic Scientific Reserve, helping to build what will eventually become S.H.I.E.L.D.
Shea Whigham plays Roger Dooley, chief at the SSR and boss of agents Carter, Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj). The cast also includes James D’Arcy as the original human butler Jarvis and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, AKA Tony’s dad and a key part of the SSR.
For a taste of what British viewers can expect, here's a teaser clip (from last year):
And if all this is getting you excited for what the future holds for the much-loved character, remember this: a second season has already been commissioned by ABC, and what's more, Ms Atwell herself has been tweeting some very intriguing photos of late...
