It’s not all Lego over at Warner Bros. animation. Despite the massive franchiseability of Emmet and co., the company is still developing other ideas. It now has Andy Samberg and Kelsey Grammer on board to voice Storks.
The film comes from the combination of Nick Stoller (who had Samberg pop up in a cameo for Bad Neighbours) and Pixar veteran Doug Sweetland, who likely has some experience with the subject since he was at the Emeryville company when Partly Cloudy, the short about a cloud creating dangerous babies and his stork pal was in production.
Storks, however, is more of a mystery for now. We don’t know whom Samberg and Grammer will be playing and Warners is keeping the plot quiet beyond the basic promise of “a fresh and funny look at the fable behind storks.”
Though it isn’t a Lego film, some of that franchise’s team are acting as executive producers, with Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Jared Stern consulting, while Focus duo Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are also producing. The film is looking to flap into cinemas in 2016, so work has clearly been under way on this one for a while.
Samberg, usually found on ace US TV sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, will next be seen (well, heard), in Hotel Transylvania 2, out October 9. Grammer, who was in Transformers: Age Of Extinction and The Expendables 3 last year, has a role in Entourage, which swaggers its way to our shores on June 19.
