Daredevil Will Return For Season Two

Daredevil Will Return For Season Two

But with new producers in charge

While no formal plans were originally announced, it did seem likely that Marvel and Netflix were planning one season for each of their shows – Daredevil, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist – before teaming them up for a miniseries based on the Defenders comics. Now, though, thanks to the popularity of Daredevil, the horned hero of Hell’s kitchen is returning for a second season next year.

Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and a lot of the other cast will be back for the second run of the vigilante show, but there will be yet another change behind the scenes. The first season famously lost Drew Goddard to Sony’s Spider-Man films after just two episodes and his old fellow Joss Whedon show veteran Stephen S. DeKnight took over, making something that was brutal, bloody but also a lot of fun.

Now, DeKnight is leaving the series after completing the initial run to work on other things, handing the reins to Doug Petrie (another Whedon alumnus) and Marco Ramirez (Sons Of Anarchy and Orange Is The New Black), who were both writers on the first year of Daredevil. “While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch,” DeKnight said in a statement. “They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.” Jeph Loeb will be overseeing the show alongside them, and we’d expect the series to return next April. The first season of A.K.A. Jessica Jones is scheduled to arrive next, but Netflix has yet to confirm a date.
