Crazy, Stupid, Love writer Dan Fogelman has been trying to get his directorial debut – once called Imagine – up and running for a while. After some development delays, the film, now titled Danny Collins, is finally ready for the world to see and hits the UK next month. Here’s the trailer…
The title character is an aging, 60-plus rock star (Al Pacino) who is content to coast on former glories while still packing arenas and enjoying a wild life with a young girlfriend. He has no desire for anything else, perhaps unsurprisingly. But then his manager (Christopher Plummer) discovers an undelivered letter that John Lennon wrote to him when he was 19. The missive from his hero inspires him to rediscover his passion for music and creativity, while also spurring him to connect with the 40-year-old son (Bobby Cannavale) he never made time for before.
As part of his new journey, he moves into a small New Jersey hotel and makes friends with the manager, Mary Sinclair (Annette Bening). Can Danny find what he's been missing? And will Mary make him re-think his life choices? {Danny Collins Poster}
With Jennifer Garner, Josh Peck, Melissa Benoist and Nick Offerman in the cast, Danny Collins will be out here on May 29.
