Monster-In-Law Stalks TV

Monster-In-Law Stalks TV

Jennifer Lopez rom-com will become a sitcom

Monster-In-Law-TV-Series

There are so many movies headed to be reborn as TV series these days that it’ll soon be easier simply to list those that aren’t headed for a gogglebox reinvention. You can go ahead and take Monster-In-Law off that list, as Warner Bros. TV is developing a multi-camera comedy series inspired by the core concept.

You might recall the largely forgettable 2005 comedy, which found Jennifer Lopez going up against her fiancé’s (Michael Vartan) overbearing mother (Jane Fonda). The TV version will shift things slightly, focusing on an already attached couple confronting the challenges and parenthood while the wife also has to deal with the close bond between her husband and his mother.

Amy B. Harris and 30 Rock producer John Riggi are overseeing this one, which doesn’t yet have a network home and will have to wait and see if it makes it beyond pilot stage. The movie may not have been that great, but it did at least make money, earning $154.7 million globally, so the show at least has that going for it…
