Mark Rylance to star in Spielberg’s adaptation of The BFG

Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of The BFG has cast its titular giant, with stage actor Mark Rylance signing on to head up the forthcoming film.

According to Variety , the critically acclaimed star has agreed to play the BFG himself, although whether his performance will involve prosthetics or CGI remains to be seen.

The film will retell Roald Dahl’s classic story of a kindly giant, who teams up with a young girl in an attempt to thwart his less-cuddly brethren from devouring England’s children.

Spielberg and Rylance are already set to collaborate on the director’s as-yet-untitled Cold War project, with the two films scheduled to shoot back to back.

The BFG
will open in the UK on 22 July 2016. Celebratory snozzcumbers all round!
