It’s a crying shame that Bong Joon-ho’s fantastic sci-fi thriller Snowpiercer has yet to make it to the UK in any official release. But perhaps frustrated film fans can find hope in the cast being built for the director’s next film, creature feature Okja, which has Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Kelly Macdonald and Bill Nighy in various stages of negotiations to join up.
Snowpiercer’s Tilda Swinton has confirmed that she’ll reunite with Bong for the film, which the director is largely keeping under wraps, but is said to be a bilingual monster movie with a Korean female lead and a batch of supporting English-language actors based in New York. The director, who also made 2006’s The Host (so good that we can’t wait to see what he does with a bigger budget and cast), has the backing of Lewis Pictures and is currently scheduled to shoot next year.
According to The Wrap, it’s not definite as to which of the others will be joining Swinton (Gyllenhaal is particularly tough to nail down given his in-demand status), but we can well imagine them being excited to work with the director.
