Logan Marshall-Green Heads For War Drama Sand Castle

Joining Nicholas Hoult and Henry Cavill

There’s another casting change afoot for war drama Sand Castle, and we’re afraid it means bad news for Luke Evans fans. With Nicholas Hoult long attached and Henry Cavill joining more recently, the casting ranks have swelled by one, as Prometheus’ Logan Marshall-Green is now aboard, replacing Evans.

Sand Castle is scripted by Chris Roessner, who spent two years serving in Iraq and went on more than 200 missions during his stint as a machine gunner in the war-torn country’s Sunni Triangle. The story will focus on Matt Ocre (Hoult), and platoon leader Sergeant Baker (Marshall-Green), as they and their troops attempt to protect a farming village called Baqubah in the crosshairs of some very dangerous enemies. At the same time, Baker has to keep his troops sane in the face of mounting casualties. As for Cavill, he’ll be the special forces captain running the operation.

Fernando Coimbra, who has directed episodes of Netflix’s Narcos and several films, is behind the camera for the film. The production is kicking off later next month. The Baker role has been a tough one to nail down – Toby Kebbell had been attached to play the part, but left due to a scheduling conflict and now, it appears, Evans is out for similar reasons.

Marshall-Green is playing another soldier, this time a Marine having trouble adapting to civilian life after Vietnam in US cable show Quarry, which hits screens next year.
