Justin Theroux In Talks For The Girl On The Train

He may board the thriller

Steel yourself, Chris Evans fans! He won’t be part of Tate Taylor’s new thriller The Girl On The Train. In related info-dumping: good news, Justin Theroux fans! It’s looking like he will be in the film instead.

Erin Cressida Wilson adapted the script from Paula Hawkins’ much buzzed-about book, which drew comparisons to Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl for its narrative. We’ll caution that even the basic synopsis might be considered a spoiler, but read on if you wish… The story follows a recently divorced woman called Rachel (Emily Blunt) struggling with her life and sinking into alcoholism to try to cope. She spies a seemingly perfect couple from her London train ride every day and starts to fantasise about their lives. But things take a turn when she sees something shocking…

We won’t say which role Theroux is looking to score, as it in itself is a key component of the plot. But if he does join the cast, he’ll be joining the likes of Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Bennett, Edgar Ramirez and, according to the The Wrap’s report, Jared Leto, who had been considering a role at the same time as Evans, but appears to have actually boarded the movie. And talking of Leto...

Taylor should be cranking the cameras soon for DreamWorks. Theroux was pat of the team writing Zoolander 2, which will take its turn on the catwalk on February 12. He has various other movies at different stages, but is currently focused on starring in HBO drama The Leftovers, which recently kicked off its second season.
