Steve Carell Set To Feel Paranoid

Steve Carell Set To Feel Paranoid

For a new, untitled Gore Verbinski thriller

Steve-Carell-Paranoia-Thriller

Despite establishing himself as a film star in family and comedy (and family comedy) films, Steve Carell has been stretching his thespian muscles recently and receiving some of the best reviews of his career for dark, real-life drama Foxcatcher. He’s dipping his toe into the paranoid thriller business for a new film from Pirates Of The Caribbean veteran Gore Verbinski.

Though the film doesn’t yet have a name, it does have a script from The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty’s Steve Conrad and the cameras will roll in March. But in keeping with its paranoid nature, no details of the story have been released. Still, it’ll be interesting to see Carell turn his hand to playing someone who’s not quite sure what’s happening. You know, aside from Brick Tamland.

According to Deadline, it’s all part of a multi-film deal for Verbinski, who will reportedly segue from the thriller to horror movie A Cure For Wellness from Revolutionary Road writer Justin Hythe and then – because he’s apparently given up taking time off for a while – a large scale comedy, once more written by Conrad, currently titled Passengers.

As for Carell, he’s back in family-friendly mode for Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, which is out here on Friday, followed by Foxcatcher on January 9.
