Sam Raimi and Fede Alvarez reuniting for new thriller

As it’s Halloween, some sort-of-horror news to bring you this morning in the form of a prospective re-team between Evil Dead collaborators Sam Raimi, Fede Alvarez and Rob Tapert.

However, the trio aren’t cooking up an Evil Dead sequel, or even a horror film of any variety, but rather a new thriller entitled A Man In The Dark.

According to Collider , the film will follow a trio of teenagers who specialise in meticulously-planned home robberies, as they eye the final score that should set them up for some time to come…

Having targeted a reclusive blind man with millions of dollars stashed away, it seems like the perfect plan… except for the fact that said blind man is a fully paid-up psychopath, with more than a few tricks up his sleeve…

Alvarez is set to occupy the director’s chair on the film, with Raimi and Tapert supporting on producing duties. An official release date has yet to be confirmed.

First images land for Terminator: Genisys

The first batch of official images for Terminator: Genisys has arrived online courtesy of Entertainment Weekly , showing off the cast in all their heavily-armed glory.

The new shots show Emilia Clarke and co toting some serious weaponry, while pleasingly, there’s also a look at Arnold Schwarzenegger back in action as everyone’s favourite cybernetic badass.

Meanwhile, Clarke has expanded on the notion that her character was brought up by the T-800. “Oh, she’s just a normal girl growing up in a world with a Terminator for a dad,” laughs the star. “What was her first date like? Did he kill many of the dates she brought home?”

Not that Connor will be entirely deprived of love interest, with Jai Courtney confirming that his character, Kyle Reese, will have a romantic storyline with Sarah.

"I had never fallen in love on screen before," says Courtney. "It was interesting to do that, especially when you’ve got a backdrop of the future and the past and all this other shit… endoskeletons, robots…”

Directed by Alan Taylor and co-starring Jason Clarke and Matt Smith, Terminator: Genisys will open in the UK on 3 July 2015.

Rumour: Wonder Woman movie to be first in a trilogy?

With Wonder Woman finally getting her own solo movie, the rumour mill has already clanked into gear regarding exactly what form the spin-off will take, with Bleeding Cool suggesting that the film will be a prequel.

According to the report, the film will be set long before Batman v Superman (where Gal Gadot’s character is set to make her on-screen debut), with the first half of the story taking place on Paradise Island, where various Amazonian factions are at war.

Things are then shaken up by the arrival of a man on the island, with Wonder Woman eventually returning home with him to the world of man. Once there, she is forced to adapt to 1920s life, where women’s rights aren’t quite as advanced as she might have anticipated…

The report goes on to claim that the film will be the first in a trilogy, with a sequel set around the time of WW2, before an eventual third film would bring the action up to date with the rest of the Justice League.

All of which sounds like a sensible way of approaching the character, with Warner set to dig deep into her origins after having her jostle for screen-time with Batman, Superman, Aquaman et al.

Wonder Woman will open in the US on 23 June 2017, with a UK date yet to be confirmed.

Domhnall Gleeson stars in fantastic first trailer for Ex Machina: watch now

The first trailer has exploded online for Ex Machina, Alex Garland’s directorial debut, in which Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson find themselves embroiled in a rather unusual love triangle.

Gleeson plays a talented programmer, selected to work with Isaac on developing an extremely advanced, artificially intelligent robot in a remote research facility.

However, since said robot looks like Alicia Vikander, the situation soon grows complicated, with Gleeson starting to develop feelings for her while beginning to question Isaac’s motivations.

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

Having also penned the script, Garland looks to have conjured up a claustrophobic, subtly unnerving sci-fi, with Isaac turning in a particularly creepy performance as the robot’s inscrutable creator.

Directed by Garland and co-starring Corey Johnson and Chelsea Li, Ex Machina will open in the UK on 23 January 2015.

Seth Rogen joining Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs biopic

Having already secured Christian Bale for the title role, Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs biopic is continuing to build its cast, with Variety reporting that Seth Rogen is in line to join the project.

According to the report, Rogen has bagged the role of Steve Wozniak, one of Jobs’ closest allies and co-founder of Apple who played a key role in the development of some of the company’s most ground-breaking technology.

Said technology will form the focal point of the film, with each of its three, thirty-minute acts set just before the launch of the Mac, the NeXT and the iPod.

Meanwhile, The Wrap claims that Jessica Chastain is also on Boyle’s hit-list, with the director keen to sign her up as soon as possible. No details as yet regarding who she might be playing…

Adapted from Walter Isaacson’s acclaimed biography and directed by Boyle, the film has yet to receive an official release date, with shooting expected to begin in early 2015.

Exclusive New Clip From What We Do In The Shadows

Exclusive New Clip From What We Do In The Shadows

Time for some new fangled technology

Somewhere in the admittedly fairly broad space between F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu and J. Tribbiani's Friends lies What We Do In The Shadows, a new comedy-horror from Kiwi writer/directors Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. The Kiwis are the first to explore the relationship between vampiric souls and the internet, unless there was a bit we missed in Count Orlok's long and pestilential journey across medieval Europe where he gets wi-fi installed. Click 'yes please' on the new clip below for a closer look.

The movie's four flat-sharing vamps, Wellington's most ancient and untidy bloodsuckers, are 862-year-old Vladislav (Clement), 379-year-old Viago (Waititi) and spring chicken Deacon (Jonathan Brugh), 183. Then there's 8000-year-old basement-dweller Petyr (Ben Fransham), who has probably seen better days. About three million of them.

Helping this posse of the undead get down with the kids is Stu (Stu Rutherford), friends with the newly vampified Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer), who's helpfulness and IT support quickly makes him a firm favourite with the boys. {What We Do In The Shadows} What We Do In The Shadows will be doing its riotously funny thing in your local cinehouse from November 21.
