Viewers of the BBC coverage of last night’s World Cup Final will have already been treated to the full trailer for Season 8 of Doctor Who, with the new video now available to view online.
“Life returns… life prevails,” intones a Dalek voice ominously, before Peter Capaldi’s new Doctor sweeps in and sets about making the part altogether his own.
Steely-eyed and bristling with intensity, Capaldi is quite a change of pace from David Tennant and Matt Smith, and could well be the most badass Doctor since Christopher Ecclestone’s incarnation…

Daleks, Cybermen, er, Dinosaurs! It certainly looks as though the new Doctor will have a lot on his plate, although judging by the inner turmoil on display here, his hardest battle may prove to be with himself…
