She'll co-star with Eddie Murphy
Last month, we learned that Eddie Murphy had signed on to the title role in Bruce Beresford’s new drama, Cook. He has just gained a co-star in the shape of Tomorrowland’s Britt Robertson.
Cook finds Murphy as Henry Church, an artistic man hired by a dying father to care for his girlfriend and daughter after he runs down the curtain and joins the choir invisible. But while Church only expects to work for Marie Brody and her daughter Charlotte (Robertson), he ends up a key part of their lives for the next 15 years.
"It's a great screenplay," producer Mark Canton told Empire recently. "It's a small story – a true story – of a family and a guy who comes into their lives. You have to come up with either really great big franchise driven movies or little character driven movies. Those are the two businesses to be in. I'm in both. You don't like to be caught in the middle." Beresford is preparing to shoot later this month in Los Angeles, working from Susan McMartin’s script, based on her own experiences.
Robertson, as mentioned, will be seen alongside George Clooney in Tomorrowland, arriving on May 22 next year. Before that, she has the next Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride, which is due on April 10.
