Could we have our villain?
With filming set to kick off next month, we’re reaching the stage when the floodgates open regarding information about the next Bond film, which in this case is still known as Bond 24. While no official announcements have yet to be made, Baz Bamigboye is reporting that Christoph Waltz has signed for the film.
We’re likely going to have to wait for the Sony and Eon teams to make an announcement before anything is confirmed, but Bamigboye has a firm track record on this front. He’s already pointed to Lea Seydoux as a potential femme fatale, while Latino Review – no slouches in scoopage, but not so tested on the James Bond front – have heard that Guardians Of The Galaxy ’s Dave Bautista is up for a henchman role.

And Waltz’s reported casting means he may well have a boss. Dare we speculate that the man who has brought iconic (and Oscar-winning) villains to life in the past could be the next Blofeld? With the Bond team seemingly looking to reconstruct the classic formula around Daniel Craig’s Bond, with –spoiler alert for the three people who haven’t seen Skyfall - Ralph Fiennes taking over as M, Ben Whishaw as a fresh-faced Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, the crucial trio is once more in place, with Rory Kinnear back as the redoubtable Tanner. There have also been rumours that Blofeld could return to the series, and Waltz could certainly offer up a fresh interpretation.
Sam Mendes is back to direct, working from a script initially crafted by John Logan that has since seen input from Bond veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. The film itself is set for October 23 next year over here, before skydiving down to America on a Union Jack parachute for November 6.
