Get a look at Hugh Jackman's Blackbeard

We’ve already had brief glimpses of the Pan cast thanks to this summer’s Ice Bucket Challenge and a selfie from Hugh Jackman in the makeup chair. But now the first proper look at Jackman’s Blackbeard and Levi Miller’s Peter have arrived online courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. {Pan Pics}

As you can see from the imagery, Jackman’s Blackbeard – the main villain in this new twist on the Pan origin story from Atonement’s Joe Wright – isn’t actually bald, but sports a fine mane of hair that is either his own or some wigged-out creation. We’d guess the later, so perhaps he has different hair for different events: will we see him bark, “fetch my plundering hair!” at some point?

The new film takes J.M. Barrie’s story and gives it a few subtle tweaks, including imagining Peter’s origin as a wartime orphan transported with others to Neverland by the nefarious Blackbeard. There, our hero meets a young man named Hook (Garrett Hedlund) who is destined to become Peter’s nemesis but is a friend here, more of an adventurer and featuring both hands still intact. With the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Cara Delevigne, Rooney Mara, Paul Kaye, Nonso Anozie and Adeel Akhtar aboard, Pan is set to swoop in to our cinemas on July 17. For more imagery, head to EW, and we’d imagine the trailer would be along soon.
