The first images have arrived online from Rupert Wyatt’s drama, The Gambler, featuring our first look at a positively slimline Mark Wahlberg.
The new film is a remake of the 1974 original, and will follow Wahlberg as a literature professor who finds himself battling a rapidly escalating gambling problem.
The role saw Wahlberg drop a staggering 60 pounds from the scales, although according to the star, the physical transformation wasn’t the most challenging aspect of the role…
“Being believable as a teacher was one of my greatest challenges and most rewarding,” says Wahlberg. “It meant being able to have the comfort to really understand and say those words.”
Directed by Wyatt and co-starring Brie Larson, Jessica Lange and John Goodman, The Gambler will open in the UK on 1 May 2015.
