Louis C.K. Says I'm A Cop

Louis C.K. Says I'm A Cop

He's directing and starring in the indie comedy

Louis-CK-I'm-A-Cop

He’s been enjoying great success as writer/director/producer star on his self-titled, semi-autobiographical TV series Louie, but Louis C.K. hasn’t pulled similar duty on the big screen since 2001’s Pootie Tang. And while an argument could be made for that being the main reason (he was removed from the flop comedy during editing), he has at least been involved in other films. Now he’s back both behind and in front of the camera for I’m A Cop.

No, it’s not the lower budget indie-flavoured sequel to last year’s Let’s Be Cops. C.K.’s latest project is the story of a depressed middle-aged volunteer cop (in keeping with the creator’s usual wheelhouse) who lives in the shadow of his mother, a highly decorated officer. When she dies, her legacy pushes him to become a real policeman, something he never intended to be.

Scott Rudin, who is involved with Louie and helps bring the world his stand-up comedy specials, is producing the new movie, but there’s no sign of a schedule yet.

C.K. will next be seen in Trumbo (due January 22 2016) and heard in The Secret Life Of Pets, which arrives on June 24 the same year.
