That Christoph Waltz intends to slip behind the camera and start directing films isn’t too much of a surprise – he’s already developing a romantic comedy called Up, Up And Away (no, not about Superman). But it appears he’s closer to making The Worst Marriage In Georgetown, a new true crime drama

Waltz has a script in progress by Proof’s David Auburn that adapts a New York Times Magazine articled written by Franklin Foer. It explores the story of Albrect Muth, a strange, cunning social climber who married an older widow called Viola Drath. Though seemingly a happy couple that threw big parties at their lavish home, there was a dark side, one that came out when Drath was found murdered and the revelations about Muth’s lies were pushed into the light of day.

The actor will also star as Muth and has locked in funding from Voltage Pictures, which will sell the rights to the film at Cannes. Waltz aims to have the cameras rolling this October.

As for his acting career, Waltz will next be seen in Spectre, due here on Friday October 23, in which he is definitely not playing Blofeld. He’ll also show up in Tarzan, swinging in at some point in 2016.
