Aardman Announces Stop-Motion Caveman Movie Early Man

Aardman Announces Stop-Motion Caveman Movie Early Man

Nick Park's ugg life

After the success of Shaun The Sheep: The Movie comes another collaboration with StudioCanal, Early Man, with this production also co-produced by the BFI. And, as you may have guessed, it's about our neanderthal ancestors, but with a typically Nick Park take (see above, with some dressed-up Shauns).

"Set at the dawn of time, when dinosaurs and woolly mammoths roamed the earth," reads the official synopsis, "Early Man tells the story of how one plucky caveman unites his tribe against a mighty enemy and saves the day!"

Which plucky caveman? Which mighty enemy? How do Wallace and Gromit fit into this? All these questions and more remain to be answered, but fingers crossed for yet more pause-or-you'll-miss-'em background jokes and a typically British sense of humour. Actually, could this be just the time for a British dinosaurs-and-caveman movie.

The Academy Award-winner director behind the project, Park said this of the announcement: “I’m very excited to be making this film with such great partners. And with the support of the incredible team at Aardman, bringing this inept bunch of cavemen to life is going to be a hilarious adventure!"

With territories still to be sold at Cannes Festival, there's no official release date for Early Man, but as soon as it's known, we'll know, then you'll know.
