Tomorrowland: A World Beyond Debuts Animated Story Segments

Tomorrowland: A World Beyond Debuts Animated Story Segments

A little background on part of the film

While Brad Bird and his team are still doing their best to keep as many of Tomorrowland: A World Beyond’s secrets in reserve for the film itself, they are still exploiting some interesting avenues for promotion. Given the complicated alt-history plotline at the heart of the movie, the chance to offer a little background is a welcome one. Hence two animated segments cut from the final movie edited together into one, which has been released officially online.

Without digging much into spoiler territory (unless you wish to see the film knowing nothing), the short ‘toon talks a little about how Tomorrowland was brought into being thanks to the efforts of Jules Verne, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, and Gustave Eiffel, who brought their brilliant brains together for the betterment of humanity in the face of corporate greed and combat-happy governments. Evoking the feel of 1950s TV specials and shorts you might see around Disneyland and EPCOT, and it’s good to be able to see them before the movie as opposed to having to wait for a Blu-ray release.

The film also has a big interactive website, which you can visit here and should help offer more of a briefing without giving away the surprises in store.

Tomorrowland: A World Beyond, directed by Bird, features George Clooney, Britt Robertson, Hugh Laurie, Pierce Gagnon, Judy Greer, Raffey Cassidy and Kathryn Hahn in the cast. It’ll be out on May 22.
